3. How do I check out books or other resources
from the Ogeechee Technical College Library?
Each patron (students, faculty or staff) must
present a valid, current Ogeechee Tech
identification card every time he/she wishes to
check out library materials. The library staff
will set up a patron account that includes
contact information for the patron, as well as
an account expiration date.
Depending on the patron classification, a user
may have a maximum of five (5) items charged to
his/her account at any one time. Non-reference
books circulate—may be checked out or
renewed—for a two-week period. A $1 per day fine
will be assessed on each item for each day that
the item is overdue. A replacement cost will be
assessed for any item that is lost or damaged.
MATERIAL TYPES
Reference books (non-checkout)
Non-Reference books (circulate)
Periodicals (non-checkout)
Videotapes (circulate only to faculty or staff /
in-house use by students)

6. How do I request a password to access
GALILEO’s full-text databases from home?
The Department of Technical and Adult Education
(DTAE), like to the University System of Georgia
Board of Regents (USG-BOR), and the public
library system, pays a fee to license specific
electronic resources through GALILEO for use by
its affiliated members (e.g., students, faculty
and staff). Each individual DTAE college has its
own GALILEO password and is responsible for
ensuring that only authorized users have access
to the password, which changes on a quarterly
basis. Authorized users are those students who
are currently enrolled at the Ogeechee Tech, as
well as currently employed faculty and staff.
When a user accesses the GALILEO web site and
enters the passwords, they are “authenticated”
as a valid Ogeechee Technical College user.
Eligible users may request the current GALILEO
password by visiting or contacting the Library,
(912) 871-1606. A current Ogeechee Tech student
or staff identification card is required when
requesting the password. Valid users may not
share the institution’s password with anyone
else—violations will result in the loss of
access privileges and potential disciplinary
action by the College.
